Lord Dattatreya is Guru of all Gurus considered as Incarnation of Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma born to the great Saint Atri and his devoted wife Anusuya. Datta meaning to give – Gift, because a pure saint always gives back what he has to this world. The great powers Datta avatars derived by their entire life in detachment like meditation are gifted for the benefits of his devotees.
Dattatreya gives us to observe, that he has opted a list of twenty-four Gurus, regarding himself as a humble student of the whole of creation. He also teaches us the lesson that the higher is one's knowledge, the humbler is that person. The larger is our wisdom, the smaller we look in the eyes of people. The nearer we are to God, the farther we appear from people's eyes.
So Lord Dattatreya is here before us as a spiritual magnet and a magnificent embodiment of divine power – the powers even of creation, preservation and destruction. This three-faced God, Lord Dattatreya, is regarded as an embodiment of Brahma, Vishnu and Siva.

If the goal is not clear, any means adopted to the goal will fall flat, like a huge structure raised on a weak foundation.
